Sew a key fob zipper purse — with the SVG cutting file for your Cricut included
KEELEY keeps your keys where you can find them. The purse clips onto the key fob hardware so it hangs from a lanyard or a bag strap, or stands alone in a pocket — and it's just as good for coins, cards, earphones or any other small thing that goes missing at the bottom of a bag.
It's a great first zip project, and you get a choice at the end: box the corners for a purse with depth, or leave them flat.
What you'll learn
- Sewing a zip between an outer and a lining, then topstitching both sides
- Marking the zip so the folded fabrics line up exactly
- Boxing corners by measuring 2cm in from the point (optional)
- Reinforcing across the zip teeth before trimming the excess
- Fitting 32mm key fob hardware, teeth to the back
Finished size
- Without boxed corners: 12cm x 11cm
- With boxed corners: 11cm x 9cm
What you'll need
A fat quarter of medium weight cotton for the main fabric, a fat quarter of lining fabric, a nylon zipper, and 32mm key fob fastener hardware. Seam allowance is ¼" across the bottom.
Tip: the wider part of the template forms the bottom of the purse and the narrower part the top — worth knowing if you're using a directional fabric.
