Sew a fully reversible shopper — two bags in one
LUDLOW is completely reversible. There's no lining and no wrong side: you sew two complete bags and join them, so you can turn it inside out and carry a different bag whenever you like. That's also why it takes a full metre of each fabric — both sides are outers.
It's a proper roomy shopper with boxed corners for a flat base, and the handles are cut as part of the bag body, so there are no straps to attach.
What you'll learn
- Cutting on the fold so the body and handles come out in one piece
- Boxing the corners to give the bag a flat 12cm base
- Building two complete bags and joining them right sides together
- Turning the whole thing through a gap in the end of a handle
- Closing the handle ends and topstitching them for a neat finish

- Bag body: 35cm wide x 30cm high x 12cm deep, plus the handles
- Including handles: 60cm top to bottom
What you'll need
Two 1m pieces of cotton or polycotton — one for each side of the bag. No interfacing needed. Seam allowance is ¼" throughout.
