Reusable Face Wipes & Basket Sewing Patterns | FAITH (Printed)
Sew a set of reusable face wipes and a little fabric basket to keep them in
FAITH is one of our most beginner-friendly patterns — small, quick and inexpensive, and it teaches you two genuinely useful techniques along the way: boxing corners, and turning a project through a gap so there isn't a raw edge in sight.
By sewing your own face wipes you cut out single-use cotton pads for good. The basket keeps them tidy on the bathroom shelf, and because everything is cut from fat quarters it's a lovely way to use fabric you already have.
What you'll learn
- Boxing the corners of the basket so it stands square
- Assembling the basket outer-inside-lining, then pulling it through the turning gap
- Topstitching the rim and turning the top down for a neat cuff
- Layering cotton with bamboo towelling and trimming away the excess
- Closing a turning gap invisibly with a line of topstitching
Finished sizes
- Fabric basket: 10cm x 10cm x 10cm
- Reusable face wipes: 9cm x 9cm
What you'll need
For the basket: a fat quarter of medium weight fabric for the outer, a fat quarter of contrasting fabric for the lining, and fusible interfacing (optional — we'd recommend it if your fabric is on the thin side).
For the wipes: a fat quarter of main fabric and a fat quarter of bamboo towelling.
