ZARA 2 Tote Bag Sewing Pattern — External & Internal Zip Pockets

ZARA 2 is a fully lined tote with rather more going on than a plain everyday bag: a full-width external zip pocket across the front, a zipped internal pocket on the opposite side, and a magnetic clasp tab to keep the top closed. Boxed corners give it real depth, so it stands up and holds its shape.

Every stage is photographed and explained, so even with two zips involved this is genuinely achievable as a beginner project.

✂️ What you will learn

  • Inserting a zip between the outer and lining with a zipper foot, then topstitching for a crisp finish
  • Building a full-width external zip pocket into the front panel
  • Making a separate zipped internal pocket and attaching it to the lining
  • Fitting a magnetic clasp into a shaped closure tab
  • Boxing the corners using the 5cm square template, marked on the stitch line
  • Making and attaching folded, topstitched handles

📏 Finished size

  • Approximately 25cm wide x 25cm high x 12cm deep, plus handles
