Sew your own bum bag with an adjustable buckle strap

The BAILEY Bum Bag is a proper hands-free bag — a zipped main compartment on a webbing strap that clicks shut with a side-release buckle and adjusts to fit over a coat or under one. Wear it at the waist or across the body.

It's a great first bag if you've not put a zip in before: the shape is simple, the pieces are few, and the finished bag is something you'll genuinely use.

What you'll learn

  • Inserting a 30cm nylon zip into the top of the bag
  • Threading 25mm webbing through a side-release buckle to make an adjustable strap
  • Fully lining the bag so it's neat inside as well as out

Finished size

Approximately 22cm wide x 18cm high

What you'll need

½m of your main fabric, ½m of lining fabric, a 30cm nylon zip, a 25mm side-release buckle, and 1.5m of 25mm webbing for the strap.
