Wine Bottle Gift Bag Sewing Pattern + Cricut SVG, Two Sizes | BERNIE (PDF)
BERNIE Wine Bottle Gift Bag – Beginner Sewing Pattern with SVG Cutting File for your Cricut
Turn an ordinary bottle into a thoughtful handmade gift. The BERNIE Wine Bottle Bag Sewing Pattern includes two sizes — a Large designed to hold a full-size wine or champagne bottle, and a Mini sized for a small bottle. The instructions are identical for both, so once you've made one you can make either.
This version includes an SVG cutting file so you can cut your pieces on your Cricut, alongside the full PDF pattern. It's a quick, satisfying make from just two fat quarters, fully lined with boxed corners so it stands up properly and looks neat inside and out.
Quick Facts (At a Glance)
- Sizes Included: Two — Large (fits a full-size wine or champagne bottle) and Mini (fits a mini bottle)
- Construction: Fully lined with boxed corners
- Skill Level: Perfect for Beginners
- Format: Digital PDF Download + SVG Cutting File for Cricut
Materials Required
- Outer Fabric: One fat quarter of medium weight cotton
- Lining Fabric: One fat quarter
- Optional: Trim or appliqué, if you'd like to decorate it
- Essential Tools: Sewing machine, iron for pressing, pins or clips, and coordinating thread
What You Will Learn / Techniques
- Joining and Pressing: Sew the outer pieces along the top and press the seam open to reduce bulk in the finished bag — then do the same for the lining.
- Matching Centre Seams: Lay outer and lining right sides together, line up those centre seams, and sew both sides of the curved section.
- Snipping Curves: Clip along the curves to reduce bulk so the finished bag sits beautifully — without cutting the stitches.
- Turning Through the Handle: The whole bag turns right side out through the handle opening.
- Adding Trim or Appliqué: There's a natural point in the process to decorate, with the lining pulled clear.
- Boxing the Corners: Pull each corner apart, stack the seams into a straight line and sew across — giving the bag a flat base that stands on its own.
- Finishing: Turn through the 5cm gap left in the lining, close it, and optionally top-stitch around the handles.
