What You Will Learn

  • Quarter-marking: fold, press and mark every piece into four so the top, crown and brim line up perfectly
  • Joining a round top to the crown: match mark to mark, clip between, and sew a smooth curve without puckering
  • Attaching the brim: the same matched-mark method, worked on both the outer and the lining
  • Turning through the brim: leave a 10 cm gap, turn the whole hat through it and close it invisibly
  • Topstitching the brim: sew concentric rings ¼ inch apart across the full width for a crisp, structured finish
