Sew a pair of cosy fleece-lined mittens — a quick beginner make in two sizes

MITZI is a proper pair of mittens with a thumb, lined in soft fleece so they're warm enough to actually wear. The pattern comes in two sizes, and it's a genuinely quick project — a lovely handmade gift, or a first go at sewing a shaped, turned item.

What you'll learn

  • Sewing around a curved mitten and thumb accurately
  • Making the outer and the fleece lining as two complete mittens
  • Turning through a gap and closing it invisibly with ladder stitch

Finished sizes (across the palm)

  • Medium: approximately 10cm
  • Large: approximately 12cm

What you'll need

Fabric for the outer and fleece for the lining. Seam allowance is ¼" throughout.
