Sew a lined, padded cutlery pouch for the table
TADCASTER holds a knife, fork and spoon neatly at each place setting — lovely for dinner parties, picnics and Christmas, and reusable in a way paper napkin wraps never are. It's fully lined with fusible fleece inside, so it has a soft, substantial feel rather than sitting flat on the table.
What you'll learn
- Ironing fusible fleece centrally onto the lining for a padded finish
- Sewing right sides together leaving an 8cm turning gap in the best position
- Snipping corners so they turn out crisply
- Folding the pouch so there's exactly 6cm between the top edge and the fold
- Topstitching a scant ¼" to close the gap and finish the sides in one pass
Finished size
Approximately 11cm x 18cm across the front face, 25cm top to bottom
What you'll need (for each pouch)
2 fat quarters in contrasting fabrics (non-directional works best), 1 piece of H640 fusible fleece interfacing, a heat-erasable pen and a quilting or standard ruler. Seam allowance is ¼".
